A Lithuanian recycled materials processor (name confidential), supported by ProBaltic Consulting, secured €604,964 in non-dilutive funding in 2018 for deploying eco-innovations in its production process.
The project
The company processes secondary raw materials — a business that sits at the heart of the circular economy, but whose own production still carries an environmental footprint. The funded eco-innovation deployment cut that footprint and reduced greenhouse gas emissions, turning the processor’s operations into a more complete circular-economy loop: recycled inputs processed with demonstrably cleaner technology.

Why eco-innovation funding fits recyclers
EU measures for eco-innovation reward projects with a measurable environmental effect — lower emissions, less waste, reduced resource intensity. Recycling and secondary-materials companies are natural applicants: their business case and the environmental case point in the same direction, which strengthens both the application scoring and the payback of the investment itself. With over 60 % of a €1M-scale investment covered by the grant, the company modernised without straining its balance sheet — and its emissions reduction became a documented asset for future tenders, customers and financing rounds where environmental performance is scrutinised.
