The Rectorate of Kaunas St. Francis Xavier (Jesuit) Church, in collaboration with ProBaltic Consulting, developed and implemented a funded project under the Cultural and Natural Heritage Management and Repairs Programme for the restoration and preservation of the church.
The heritage site
The church is a late-baroque sacral architecture monument of recognised architectural and historical value: unique first towers tapering toward the top and divided into openings, an untraditional north–south orientation, and a great altar adorned with multicolour artificial marble. It belongs to the classic Jesuit ensemble type found worldwide — monastery, church, the Kaunas Jesuit Gymnasium (former college) and Perkūnas House sharing one quarter of the Old Town.
The project
The funded works focused on restoring and preserving the church building itself — regulative heritage protection work that stabilises the monument and keeps it in active cultural and community use rather than behind scaffolding.

ProBaltic Consulting prepared the application under the heritage programme and supported the Rectorate through implementation — navigating the specific documentation heritage projects require, where restoration methodology matters as much as budget.
The takeaway
Heritage funding is a distinct discipline: applicants are often non-profit custodians rather than businesses, and applications are judged on conservation quality. This project shows that with professional preparation, even complex sacral heritage sites can access programme funding for real restoration work.
